A striking antique Chinese double-panel door, hand-painted with a bold tiger motif and dating to the late Qing dynasty. The two panels come together to create the dramatic face of a tiger, with richly patterned orange and black stripes set against a deep, time-worn red ground. The hand-painted decoration and generations of natural wear give the surface remarkable depth and character, with areas of fading and exposed wood adding to its authentic patina.
Originally used as an architectural door, this piece is equally compelling today as functional sliding doors or as a large-scale decorative wall panel or headboard. The powerful tiger imagery brings a graphic, almost contemporary quality to the old painted surface, making it especially effective in Santa Fe, eclectic, bohemian, or modern interiors where a single piece of architectural art can transform a room.
This item will arrive Santa Fe in mid-October '26.
