This miniature masterpiece is set against a very wide, light cream-colored matboard that creates an expansive border of negative space, drawing the eye directly to the center. The entire composition is encased in a simple, flat black wooden frame with clean, sharp edges. Accompanying the piece is an external printed label identifying it as a fine etching (No. B43) representing the "Third State of Four," signed and dated 1641

The Angel Departing from the Family of Tobias, a dynamic black-and-white etching composed of fine cross-hatched and etched lines capturing a dramatic biblical scene. In the center, several figures react in profound awe and humility; an elderly bearded man kneels with clasped hands in the lower left, while two other figures nearby bow deeply toward the ground next to a small dog. On the right side, a burst of bright, radiating light and swirling smoke marks the sudden ascent of the angel, whose lower torso and legs are visible as they fly upward into the darkness. A trunk full of goods sits open near the right edge, while another figure watches the divine departure from a dark, arched window opening in the background on the far left.
