This is a striking large vintage cloisonné enamel vase, crafted in the classic meiping form, a traditional shape historically used for plum blossoms. Attributed to the artist Dai Jialin, it comes with a red collection certificate. The vase is richly decorated against a white ground that is densely patterned with a fine, scrolling gilt wire motif. The main body features a vibrant, hand-painted scene of blossoming plum branches in shades of coral and red, accompanied by four black and white magpies perched among the branches and rocks. The artist notes that this "Magpies on Plum Blossoms" motif is a classic auspicious design: the pronunciation of "magpie" and "plum" together form a rebus for "happiness is at hand." A red rectangular cartouche on the body bears the four-character inscription "喜上眉梢" in black calligraphy, which translates to this auspicious phrase. The rim features a band of colorful lappets, while the base is decorated with a band of upright lotus petals above a blue and white scrolling border. The vase is finished with gold gilded rims and comes with a fitted dark wood display stand. A highly decorative and collectible piece.
