This is a striking vintage cloisonné enamel double-gourd vase, a classic form symbolizing longevity and prosperity in Chinese culture. Crafted from a substantial copper body with intricate wire inlay, the vase is richly decorated against a glossy black ground. The surface is covered in a dense, fine wirework pattern of scrolling clouds outlined in gold, interspersed with stylized bats rendered in vibrant red and orange enamel. The bat is a traditional auspicious motif, as its pronunciation is a homophone for "fortune" or "blessing." The rims and the waist connecting the two gourd sections are finished with polished gold gilding. The base is glazed in a bright, solid turquoise blue with a fine petal lappet border in gold wire. This piece is described as a Feng Shui ornament believed to attract good fortune and wealth. A highly decorative and collectible piece.
