Elegant vintage two-light bouillotte table lamp featuring an unusually beautiful textured painted-metal tole shade and richly detailed bronze-tone metalwork.
Inspired by classic French bouillotte lamps, this example features two gracefully curved candle arms with cast foliate and acanthus detailing, ivory faux candle sleeves with dimensional melted-wax decoration, and a substantial oval base with a raised ornamental border.
The standout feature is the oval painted-metal tole shade. Finished in a warm cognac brown, the exterior has a deeply textured, crackled surface designed to resemble aged leather. The dimensional finish creates wonderful depth and variation in the color, particularly when the lamp is illuminated. The shade is finished with dark metal edging at the top and bottom.
A central metal standard supports the shade, which can be raised or lowered using the decorative side adjustment handle. An ornamental finial completes the traditional bouillotte silhouette.
The combination of the warm cognac shade, dark bronze-tone finish and ivory candle sleeves gives this lamp an especially handsome Old World character. Beautiful for a library, study, living room, entry console, writing desk or bedside table, and equally suited to Traditional, Regency, French, English Country and collected interiors.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition and exceptionally well preserved overall. The tole shade has a deliberately textured and crackled decorative finish, with minor age-related surface and edge wear visible on close inspection. Metalwork and decorative elements present beautifully. Lamp is in working condition. Please review photographs for additional condition details.
