Roulstone bridal steamer trunk manufactured … Read more I have the maker as unknown although research has narrowed it down to a G. Roulstone bridal steamer trunk manufactured between 1870 and 1885. The main evidence for this is the type of hinges used/patent date and Roulstone is the only known camelback or dome top US trunk maker to use the fleur de lis. Specifically on their bridal steamer trunks. The trunk is in original, unrefinished condition and includes several preserved lithographs as well as one remaining lithograph from the tray. (Destroyed from our next tidbit of info).. The original wheels are still attached! The front features an embedded .50 caliber lead round ball slug. (see last photos) Heavily used by civilians during the civil war until the 1890's, though I can't say for sure when the shot occurred. A beautiful, ornate and well made piece that has endured time and travel and obviously seen some interesting events! It probably belongs in a museum! I am hoping the right collector as interested in history as I am would preserve it or refinish it if desired. See less
