Each box features a rounded, dome-shaped form with a fitted lid and a wide, flat opening. Crafted from a copper body with intricate wire inlay, each box is decorated against a light sky-blue ground that is densely patterned with a fine, scrolling gilt wire cloud motif. The lid features a central pink peony blossom with green leaves and a red bud, surrounded by a decorative band of colorful lappets in blue, red, and white. The sides of the box are adorned with vibrant red and orange peony blossoms, green foliage, and a small butterfly in flight. The interior of the box and the underside of the lid are glazed in a solid, bright turquoise blue. The rims and bases are finished with polished gold gilding. This set includes two boxes and comes with a green patterned presentation box. A highly decorative and collectible pair, ideal for gifting or display.
