An exceptional antique Chinese bronze tripod narcissus basin (shuipen) dating to the Qing Dynasty (19th Century). Highly minimalist and sleek, this scholar’s vessel is supported by three low cabriole feet and features a gently turned, flared rim.
The focal point of the interior floor is a rare, beautifully cast raised square hallmark. It features stylized archaistic seal-script characters bordered by ruyi-cloud detailing, identifying the specific prominent family or artisan lineage of the Qing workshop. The exterior boasts a smooth, dark chocolate finish, while the interior shows authentic, natural light-green verdigris oxidation from generations of use holding water and flower bulbs.
