The composition centers on a rounded vase holding a spare arrangement of branches, accompanied by an overturned vessel, pottery lid and loosely draped fabric. Worked primarily in charcoal with pale/white highlights, the drawing has a wonderfully loose, expressive quality, with visible sketching and layered shading giving the vessels and fabric a surprising amount of depth and dimension.

The cool blue-gray background is especially lovely and gives the traditional still-life subject a distinctly modern feel. It is beautifully presented under glass with a wide white mat, charcoal-gray inner mat and slim silver-tone metal frame.

A quiet, beautifully composed original work that can easily stand on its own or work equally well as part of a collected gallery wall.
