BOEHM Frame: original, gilded, richly profiled Dimensions: with frame: height 78 cm, width 110 cm, depth 4 cm Without frame: height 50.5 cm, width 81.5 cm A precise landscape painting by the Austrian painter Edouard Boehm captures the quiet atmosphere of a mountain landscape with a small river and a lonely figure heading towards a traditional Alpine cottage. In the background, the layering of mountain massifs is lost in a misty haze, while the foreground is made special by detailed painted boulders, a path and sprawling trees. The painting stands out for its masterful handling of light, which permeates the scenery and creates an impressive mood of peace and security. The canvas is stretched on an original blind frame with the Viennese mark of the painting supplies supplier Anton Mautrer, Wien – Klostergasse Nr. 1, winner of the Verdienst-Medaille. This detail proves the Viennese origin of the painting and its professional provenance. The frame is original, wooden, gilded, with a distinctive plastic decoration typical of the second half of the 19th century, with minor damage in the corners corresponding to its age. Edouard Boehm is among the authors associated with the tradition of Viennese landscape painting, where he continued both romantic and realistic elements. His works are valued for the harmony of the composition, the deep sense of detail and the inner peace that radiates from them. See less
