Offering unparalleled comfort and blending tradition and innovation, they are one of the iconic creations of the duo Afra Bianchin and Tobia Scarpa, known and acclaimed worldwide as Afra and Tobia Scarpa. Both born in the 1930s and graduates of the Venice School of Architecture, the couple began their careers as glass designers at the renowned Murano glassworks. Numerous collaborations followed: for example, with the renowned Gavina company in 1960, Cassina in 1968, Flos in 1973, and even the ready-to-wear brand Benetton from 1964 until the 1990s. Their works are exhibited in museums worldwide: the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Louvre in Paris, in London, in Denmark, and elsewhere. Whether in glass, textiles, architecture, or design, the two artists were visionary and avant-garde: they were the first to use halogen lighting and cold molding for furniture, as seen in these armchairs. from 1950 to the present day, they have incorporated new technologies while preserving their history, pure, understated, minimalist forms, and functionality.
