The architectural back is richly carved with repeating rosettes, chevrons, diamonds and traditional geometric motifs, supported by distinctive horseshoe-form carved braces. Heavy cylindrical posts, incised ring detailing and stretcher construction give the bench a striking sculptural presence. Northern European Folk Art and Arts & Crafts influences, circa 1900–1920.
