The substantial two-part piece features an open plate rack above a long three-drawer dresser base. The upper section has a paneled oak back fitted with multiple display shelves, shaped vertical supports and an especially attractive pierced and scalloped decorative frieze beneath the molded projecting cornice.

The lower section is beautifully proportioned with a broad oak serving surface above three spacious drawers, fitted with traditional darkened metal bail handles and round key escutcheons. The case is raised on graceful cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, an elegant interpretation of 18th-century English country furniture.

Warm, richly figured oak is used throughout, with pronounced grain and a mellow medium-brown finish. The combination of the open plate rack, paneled back, shaped supports, cabriole legs and traditional hardware gives the dresser the character of an early English country piece while providing the practicality of later construction.

The drawers employ later, non-dovetailed construction, confirming this as a 20th-century piece made in the Georgian/Welsh dresser tradition rather than an 18th-century original.
