This exceptional Chinese Peking piece captures the refined elegance of the early 20th century, characterized by its striking color contrast and open, sophisticated composition, typical of fine antique rugs of the period.

The field is dominated by a rich, inky blue color that speaks to the high-quality dyes available during this era. Centered within this expansive space is a single, circular medallion, intricately woven with soft ivory, beige, and lighter blue tones, presenting a harmonious bouquet of traditional Chinese floral motifs.

A broad, luminous ivory border frames the composition, acting as a visual counterpoint to the deep central field. This border is adorned with gracefully trailing vines, stylized peonies, and classical Chinese symbols, demonstrating the masterful execution typical of Peking workshops. The corners feature detailed spandrels that echo the central medallion's palette.

Woven with a luxurious wool pile, this rug offers both visual depth and tactile comfort. Its impressive scale makes it an ideal room size rug, capable of anchoring a formal living area or grand dining space while introducing a timeless sense of tranquility and historic artistry. See less
