Striking vintage blue art glass bowl with a dramatic sculptural silhouette and highly expressive freeform rim.
The translucent pale blue glass has a beautifully fluid, organic quality, with an irregular ruffled edge that rises and falls around the entire opening like folded fabric. Vertical ribbed and wavy textures move through the body of the piece, while the broad open form creates a wonderful sense of movement and dimension.
The glass varies from clear to soft icy blue throughout, with subtle variations and internal texture that become especially beautiful in natural light. The irregular rim gives the bowl a distinctly sculptural, handkerchief-style appearance.
A wonderful statement piece for a coffee table, console, dining table, open shelving, or art-glass collection. Beautiful as a centerpiece or simply displayed as a sculptural object.
Unmarked. Maker and exact origin are unknown. The piece has the look of vintage Italian/Murano-style art glass, but no attribution is being made without a signature or provenance.
