The proportions are … Read more Fantastic 1960s Mid Century Modern sofa with a long 101 inch profile, walnut frame, and caned sides. The proportions are especially nice, with a low stance, tapered legs, and wide wood arms that give it a very classic period look.

The sofa retains its original style seat and back cushions. The back cushions are extremely firm, heavy, and substantial, which is typical of sofas from this era. The frame itself is very solid, heavy, and well made.

The existing velvet upholstery is stained and worn throughout, so this piece will need to be reupholstered. It had been stored away for approximately 20 years. The owner saved it for his daughter who never got around to reupholstering it. The sofa has been in the family for over 50 years.

The cane is in unusually nice condition. We found only one small break on the inside of the right arm, and it is not noticeable unless you are looking closely. Please see photo. The rest of the caning presents very well.

This would be an excellent restoration piece and should look incredible with new upholstery.
