This figural terracotta chess set brings together 32 chess pieces and an oak-framed board. Cream and black accents distinguish the opposing sides, with mouse-like pawns, horse-shaped knights, feline royal figures, tower rooks and bishops topped with split miters.
Variations in expression, curled tails, raised decorative details and incised surfaces give the figures an individual, handmade character. The textured playing surface and broad oak frame, accented with dark circular corner details, complement the sculptural pieces.
Several bases bear incised marks resembling “MB,” with an apparent “72” also visible on one base. All 32 chess pieces and the board are offered together as one complete set.
