The substantial … Read more An exceptionally decorative late 19th-century American quadruple silver-plated coffee pot by Rogers, Smith & Co. of Meriden, Connecticut.

The substantial baluster-form body is richly engraved with scrolling foliage and flowers surrounding a central cartouche. Particularly striking are the sculptural details: an elongated spout embellished with a figural bird motif, elaborate floral-form feet, a deeply reeded handle with ornamental mounts, and a domed lid terminating in an ornate finial.

The underside bears the Rogers, Smith & Co., Meriden, Connecticut quadruple-plate mark and pattern/form number 1932.

A highly decorative example of Victorian American silver-plated hollowware with wonderful scale and presence. Equally compelling displayed as an antique silver object on a sideboard, bar, bookcase or dining table.
