A newly restored Model 138 easy chair by Finn Juhl in old-growth teak and textured Edelman Modernaya leather, produced in Denmark by France & Son c. 1960s.
The frame is defined by sculpted, organic armrests shaped into long, continuous curves. Copper bushings separate the backrest from the arms, while ebonized spacers visually lift the seat above the frame—details that reflect Juhl’s approach of clearly distinguishing the supporting structure from the supported elements.
The chair has been fully restored, with the teak refinished to highlight its rich color and grain and the seat and back newly upholstered in textured Edelman Modernaya leather. Its generous proportions, reclined back, and lightly inclined seat make it exceptionally comfortable without sacrificing visual lightness of the frame.
The chair retains its original France & Son placard. It has been fully refinished and reupholstered, presenting like new. The seat was reinforced with concealed webbing for additional support while preserving the original appearance of coil springs against a burlap backer.
