Attributed to Raymond K. Sobota’s Chin Hua collection for Century Furniture, c. 1970s–80s. Glossy black lacquer frame and Ming-inspired legs, figured burl wood border, and two beveled glass inserts.
Factory ticket on the underside reads 540-333 RECT GLASS TOP EXTENSION TABLE (also marked 54-333), cut #458, sequence #17. The split glass top is original to the design — the two panels meet at center so the table can open. Stepped molding on the apron; square legs with a slight curve at the foot.
Chin Hua (introduced 1975; original run through 1998) is the collection this piece sits next to: warm burl against ebonized lacquer, Asian-modern line, and solid American construction. Offered as attributed because no Century or Chin Hua brand stamp was found on the frame, the original leaves are not present, and this example uses a dual-glass extension top rather than the more common solid-burl Chin Hua dining top. A brand stamp, if it existed, may have been on the missing leaves.
Works as a dining table if it measures standard dining height, or as a long cocktail / library table if lower. Please request exact dimensions if not listed below.
Condition
Good vintage condition and structurally sound. Expected wear to the black lacquer — scuffs, rubs, and small chips on the legs and rim, visible in photos. Glass is intact with light surface wear. Burl veneer presents well. Ready to use as-is; a polish on the lacquer would refresh the finish. Original extension leaves are not included. Photos are part of the description.
