Striking 19th-century oil-on-canvas portrait of a young woman, presented in a substantial antique giltwood frame.
The sitter is depicted in dark attire with ringlet curls framing her face and delicate jewelry at her neckline. A softly rendered landscape appears in the background, providing contrast to the dark clothing and giving the composition depth and atmosphere.
The portrait has wonderful presence and displays beautifully as a statement piece in a traditional, collected, European-inspired or eclectic interior.
