Charming matched pair of vintage Japanese porcelain portrait busts depicting an elegantly dressed gentleman and lady in elaborate Rococo-style attire.
Beautifully modeled in glazed porcelain, the pair features a soft powder-blue and ivory palette with delicate pale pink floral details. Ornate scrollwork bases, ruffled clothing, sculpted hairstyles, and applied decorative elements give these figures wonderful dimensional detail and an elegant European-inspired appearance.
Although distinctly European and Rococo in design, the pieces are Japanese export porcelain and retain impressed “Made in Japan” markings. They most likely date to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s–1960s.
A wonderful decorative pair for a French, Rococo, traditional, or collected interior. Beautiful displayed together on a mantel, console, bookshelf, or incorporated into a collection of antique and vintage porcelain.
Sold as a pair.
