Striking vintage Chinese porcelain vase from Jingdezhen, finished in a dramatic flambé glaze with a deep oxblood-red ground and radiating cobalt-blue and violet feathering. The compressed, low-profile form is balanced by a broad flared ivory-white mouth, creating a particularly sculptural silhouette.
The glaze displays the kiln-transmutation effects associated with Chinese yaobian/flambé wares, with areas of rich wine red, purple, cobalt and subtle tonal pooling that shift across the surface. Each side presents a slightly different pattern, giving the piece considerable visual movement.
The underside bears a bilingual 中国景德镇 / “Made in China” mark, identifying the piece as Jingdezhen production for export. Based on the form and marking, we are dating the vase broadly to the 1960s–late 1970s rather than attributing it to a specific Jingdezhen factory.
A beautiful decorative example of mid-to-late 20th-century Chinese flambé porcelain, particularly appealing for its unusual squat form and vivid blue-violet coloration.
Dimensions: approximately 4.75" H × 6" W.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with light glaze crazing and minor age-appropriate surface wear. No major chips or cracks observed.
