A striking set of five original 1950s Portuguese cocktail glasses, produced in Marinha Grande, one of the historic centres of glassmaking in Portugal. Sculptural, colorful and unmistakably mid-century, this rare set beautifully captures the exuberant yet sophisticated character of post-war European glass design.
Each glass is individually composed with a graceful stem and foot, a softly sculptural bowl and a richly textured layer of colored glass on the exterior. The set brings together five quintessential 1950s shades — deep blue, green, warm beige, golden yellow and red — each finished with a delicate gilded rim. The combination of bold color, tactile surface and elegant proportions gives the glasses a particularly refined presence.
Their aesthetic recalls the celebrated Scandinavian glass of the period, including the work of makers such as Randsfjord Glassverk and Magnor Glassverk, while retaining a distinctive Portuguese identity.
The glasses remain in original vintage condition, with no chips or cracks. Minor discoloration to the gilding on some rims is present, consistent with age and use.
An exceptional collectible set for lovers of Portuguese glass, Scandinavian design and authentic 1950s interiors.
