An excellent pair of earthenware jars, entirely hand-decorated, belonging to the production associated with José Gimeno Martínez (1889–1967), a prominent master ceramist from Manises. Both pieces feature profuse vegetal and floral decoration in shades of blue, green, and yellow on a white background, accompanied by abundant modeled elements that adorn the body, handles, lid, and base. The composition stands out for its extraordinary ornamental richness. Floral and vegetal motifs are combined with ribbons, scrolls, garlands, and relief elements. The lids are finished with a vegetal knob, and the handles have sinuous forms.

This piece revives the Valencian folk ceramics of the 18th and 19th centuries, especially those related to the Baroque and Rococo tradition of Manises and the influence of the Alcora pottery tradition. Gimeno's own career was closely linked to the revival of this ornamental repertoire. After his trip to Paris in 1925, he dedicated a significant part of his work to studying and reproducing traditional Valencian designs that had been relegated by the evolution of the ceramics industry.
