An authentic mid-century porcelain soup tureen produced by Jingdezhen State Factory No. 14.
Elevate your table or curio cabinet with this exceptional full-sized 10-inch Imperial Longevity Tureen-A Mid-Century Masterpiece of Jingdezhen Craftsmanship covered soup tureen in the iconic and rare vibrant turquoise Mun Shou (Longevity) pattern. Striking the perfect balance between mid-century vintage charm and grandmillennial sophistication, this heavy porcelain statement piece is as rich in history as it is in color.
The design is adorned in a brilliantly saturated turquoise glaze, the body features intricately hand-enameled pink and multi-colored floral vines. Anchoring the design are the traditional four-character medallions representing Wan Shou Wu Jiang—a poetic blessing wishing the owner "Infinite Longevity and Boundless Life."
A Rare Collector's Provenance: The Cultural Revolution "Factory N" Mark. While Mun Shou porcelain is highly sought after, this specific tureen holds a rare place in 20th-century ceramic history. The underside bears a pristine, bright red stamped factory mark featuring the elusive =N= designation. This stamp identifies the piece as a product of Jingdezhen State Factory No. 14, crafted during the height of the Cultural Revolution (circa 1966–1970).
During this tumultuous era, state-run porcelain factories were drastically reorganized, and export marks were frequently altered, obscured, or sandblasted away to bypass strict western customs borders. Finding a completely intact, beautifully crisp "Factory N" stamp makes this an incredibly desirable artifact for serious collectors of Chinese export porcelain.
The condition presented is in very good to excellent vintage condition, this tureen has been beautifully preserved over the decades. The colors remain strikingly glossy, the glaze is smooth, and the gold accents are brilliant. The basin and handles are completely free of chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. As is expected with genuine mid-century utility porcelain, the lid shows minor signs of its history. There is one solitary, very small cosmetic scratch on the upper lid surface, alongside an exceptionally small, minor chip along the lid rim. Neither flaw compromises the structural integrity or the spectacular display value of this magnificent piece. Both have been factored into the pricing.
