The bowl is richly decorated with the precise, deeply cut geometric motifs associated with American Brilliant Period glass, including prominent hobstars, fans and intersecting cut patterns that create exceptional brilliance as the piece catches the light. A large starburst or hobstar cut into the underside provides another particularly attractive detail.

The gracefully curved applied handles and elevated pedestal form distinguish this piece from simpler cut-glass bowls and give it a wonderfully architectural silhouette.

Dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, the bowl represents the period when American cut-glass houses produced some of their most elaborate and technically accomplished work.

The piece is unsigned, and while its quality and cutting are consistent with leading American Brilliant Period manufacturers, no specific cutting house or pattern has been definitively identified. It is therefore offered without a speculative maker attribution.

A beautiful example of American cut crystal, substantial enough to display on its own and equally lovely used as a sugar bowl or small serving piece.
