The sculptural vase features a substantial clear glass body with a deeply textured, undulating surface and dramatic organic form. The irregular contours beautifully refract and distort light, giving the relatively compact vase an impressive visual presence from every angle.

Soichiro Sasakura's designs for Sasaki combine traditional Japanese glass craftsmanship with the bold, sculptural aesthetic of late 20th-century design. The San Marino series is particularly recognizable for its heavy glass construction and fluid, highly textured surfaces.

Signed Sasaki on the base.

A distinctive example of Japanese postmodern art glass that works equally well as a functional vase or sculptural decorative object.
