The substantial rounded body rises to a short neck and is covered in multiple glaze treatments that shift across the surface in warm brown, rust, cream and darker earth tones. Areas of glossy and more textural glaze overlap one another, creating considerable depth and giving the vase a different appearance from every angle.

The restrained form and expressive glaze treatment reflect the experimental approach to surface and firing that characterized much studio pottery of the mid-to-late 20th century.

The underside bears an incised artist's signature, which has not yet been conclusively identified. Rather than assigning the vase to a specific potter without supporting documentation, it is offered as an unidentified signed studio pottery work.

A particularly handsome decorative vessel with strong Organic Modern and mid-century studio pottery appeal.
