Crafted in richly figured Brazilian rosewood, the tray displays deep reddish-brown tones and expressive natural grain, enhanced by a smooth satin finish.
Its elongated rectangular form is softened by gently bowed sides and rounded corners. A recessed central surface is framed by a continuous sculpted edge, while the extended ends form integrated handles that preserve the tray’s clean, uninterrupted silhouette. The careful shaping of the perimeter highlights both the density of the rosewood and the quality of WoodArt’s craftsmanship.
Gillon designed this type of refined household object throughout the 1960s, often for the international export market. Like his furniture, the tray combines the warmth of Brazilian materials with a distinctly modern sculptural sensibility.
Generously proportioned yet visually elegant, it can be used traditionally for serving drinks and small plates or displayed decoratively on a coffee table, dining table, console, or credenza. An original WoodArt label remains affixed to the underside.
A functional Brazilian modern design object with beautiful material presence and an effortlessly sophisticated form. See less
