A rectangular black marble top—cool, veined, and slightly rounded at two edges—rests across two sculptural supports. The bases are cast in concrete, lending the piece a sense of permanence, as if it were shaped as much by time as by hand.

Each support reads like a fragment of a column, but with ornament drawn from multiple traditions. Shell and foliate motifs emerge along the capitals, softening the severity of the structure. At the base, carved sea creatures—resembling dolphins—coil and anchor the form, introducing a sense of movement within the stillness.

Placed in an entry, it becomes a point of arrival. Against a wall, it reads like a relic—part furnishing, part architectural remnant. A piece that carries references across centuries, chosen not just for function, but for the atmosphere it brings into a space.

Condition: In very good vintage condition with a soft, natural patina present throughout. Minor surface scuffs and light scratches to the marble top, consistent with age and use. The top is not affixed to the base. See less
