This piece showcases a gently concave tabletop adorned with ceramic tiles in a harmonious palette of earthy brown and pale sage tones. The subtle variations in glaze create a richly textured surface, characteristic of Capron’s celebrated work in Vallauris.

The tiled top is framed by softly curved edges, and supported by minimalist rectangular legs in patinated steel.

Roger Capron redefined ceramics, infusing an ancient art form with new life and leaving a lasting mark on mid-century design. Born in 1922 in Vincennes, France, he drew inspiration from the pottery traditions of Vallauris, where he settled after studying in Paris. In 1946, he co-founded l'Atelier Callis, producing ceramics that reflected the earthy tones and geometric forms of Provence.

By the 1960s, Capron expanded beyond vases and tiles into furniture, crafting tables that were functional works of art. His work captured the essence of post-war optimism—creating something lasting, something meaningful.

Condition: This original Roger Capron table is in excellent vintage condition, with naturally patinated steel legs. Minor wear at the edges and corners, consistent with age and use. Signed ‘R. Capron’ along the tabletop. See less
