The jar features a rounded, shouldered form with a fitted domed lid. The body is painted against a creamy white ground with a graceful, free-flowing scene of orchids in vivid shades of blue, their long, sweeping leaves and delicate blossoms rendered in varying tones of underglaze blue. Two small, gilded birds flit among the orchid leaves, adding a delicate touch of gold to the composition. The reverse side of the jar bears a four-character inscription in black calligraphy reading "淡泊明志" (Dan Bo Ming Zhi), a famous quote from Zhuge Liang meaning "Indifference to fame and gain clarifies one's ambition," accompanied by a small red seal mark. This motif reflects the refined, scholarly aesthetic of traditional Chinese literati culture.
