Exceptional antique round guéridon, occasional or accent table featuring an elaborate mixed-metal base and beautifully constructed multi-color marble top.

The circular top features a richly figured deep red brecciated marble center surrounded by a narrow golden/yellow stone band and broad white marble border. The raised outer marble edge is finished with an unusual molded segmented or reeded design.

Surrounding the stone top is an ornate brass/bronze-tone pierced gallery decorated with running greyhounds or whippets, scrolling motifs and circular medallions.

The architectural base is constructed primarily of dark patinated iron with contrasting brass/bronze decorative mounts. Curving supports descend to an elaborate central arrangement of geometric openwork ornaments, while circular stretchers reinforce the lower base. Four gracefully splayed legs terminate in handsome cast paw-form feet.

The combination of marble, iron, brass/bronze and classical animal motifs gives the table a distinctive French/Continental Neoclassical and early 20th-century European character.
