A handsome 19th-century French culinary mould crafted from solid copper, with a deeply modeled lobed form and original hanging ring.
Measuring an impressive 9 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep, the mould has substantial presence and a beautifully aged copper surface developed over generations of use. The sculptural fluted design would originally have been used for molded preparations such as puddings, jellies or cakes, while the hanging ring allowed the mould to be stored and displayed on the kitchen wall.
The interior is unlined copper, and the piece is unmarked. Today, it is best suited as a decorative and collectible antique rather than for culinary use.
Beautiful displayed individually or incorporated into a collection of antique copper cookware and culinary objects. Its warm, naturally aged surface has been left unpolished to preserve its character.
Dimensions: 9" diameter × 4" deep.
Good antique condition with age-appropriate patina, oxidation, surface wear and irregularities consistent with its history and use. Please refer to photographs for details.
