The colorful scene captures one of the region's most distinctive landscapes: the historic windmills associated with the saltworks between Trapani and Marsala. Painted in a vibrant Mediterranean palette of cobalt blue, turquoise, green, yellow and warm terracotta tones, the platter has the relaxed character and individual variation of hand-decorated Sicilian pottery.

The reverse is marked “Di Cotte e di Crude” and “Trapani,” identifying the piece with the Sicilian ceramic studio Di Cotte e di Crude di Cordio Giuliana in Trapani, Sicily.

Designed to be both decorative and functional, the platter has openings incorporated into the foot for hanging and makes a wonderful wall accent when not being used for serving.

A charming piece of contemporary Sicilian artisan pottery with a distinctly local subject and wonderful Mediterranean color.

Approximately 10.25" diameter × 1" deep.

Very good pre-owned condition with the minor variations and imperfections characteristic of hand-painted pottery. Please see photographs for details.
