This magnificent Chinese Art Deco piece, woven during the height of the Jazz Age, presents a sophisticated fusion of traditional Eastern motifs and modern Western aesthetics. Its generous room size makes it an exceptional focal point for a grand living space or formal dining area.

The rug's defining feature is its deeply saturated and striking red field, a hue highly prized during the 1920s for its vibrancy and warmth. This rich central expanse is framed by a broad, contrasting border rendered in deep indigo and midnight blue, creating a dramatic visual depth characteristic of high-quality Art Deco production.

A sparse yet elegant composition defines the field, featuring beautifully rendered Chinoiserie elements. The borders and corners are adorned with delicate floral sprays and trailing vines, interspersed with traditional symbols like butterflies and pagodas, all executed with a painterly precision that softens the geometric rigor of the Art Deco form.

Hand-knotted in plush, high-quality wool, this rug retains the luxurious pile and rich patina expected of fine antique rugs from this period. It is a rare and compelling example of how Chinese weavers adapted their centuries-old craft to meet the demands of the burgeoning international market for sophisticated, modern furnishings. See less
