The geometric handle and broad, tapered spout give it a striking modernist profile, while the hinged lid makes it a handsome bar-cart or dining-table accent.

The mount is stamped J.G.&S. with an archer mark and pattern number 5757, attributed to John Grinsell & Sons. The maker is associated with late Victorian and early 20th-century silverplate; exact date is unknown. The metal is described as silver plate, not sterling.
