Each vase features a dramatic flared trumpet-form mouth above a tall ribbed neck and generously proportioned baluster body. The bodies are decorated in deeply modeled relief with traditional Chinese dragon and scrolling cloud motifs, complemented by a scalloped decorative border around the base.
The rich black glaze has subtle variations in tone and an almost metallic, iridescent quality that beautifully emphasizes the raised decoration. Their substantial 26-inch height and wide 16-inch profile give the pair excellent presence, making them particularly striking displayed on consoles, pedestals, flanking a fireplace, or incorporated into a sophisticated contemporary or traditional interior.
A wonderful decorative pair combining classic Chinese forms with a dramatic monochromatic palette.
