This charming piece represents the quintessential folk artistry of the American hooked rug tradition. Crafted from durable wool, its tactile surface and primitive charm make it a unique domestic textile from the turn of the century.

The composition features an organized grid, creating an effective allover design where stylized floral or clover motifs are contained within individual squares. The palette relies on rich, variegated browns and taupes, beautifully contrasted by the central motifs rendered in a soft, aged ivory color.

The highly textural surface, typical of the hooking technique, provides a comforting, rustic appeal. Given its small scatter size, this piece is ideally suited for intimate spaces—perhaps an entryway, bedside accent, or placed atop a larger, neutral carpet. The robust, hand-hooked construction speaks to its enduring quality and domestic origins.

This rug is more than a floor covering; it is a piece of textile history, offering a sophisticated yet rustic accent that captures the spirit of early American craftsmanship. It exemplifies the diversity found within our collection of exceptional antique rugs, appealing to collectors who value authenticity and unique, handcrafted charm. See less
