An extraordinary three-panel Napoleon III/Rococo screen, late 19th century, made in France. The structure, in carved and gilded wood, features a tripartite composition articulated by hinges. Of these panels, the central one is the most prominent, featuring a profusely ornamented crest. At its center is an oval medallion with a figurative scene of a gallant or pastoral nature, framed by rich decoration of scrolls, garlands, and Rococo-inspired vegetal motifs.

The side panels replicate, with slight simplification, the ornamental scheme of the central panel. However, at the top of each panel are small beveled mirrors arranged in a grid. The lower section is covered with damask fabric.

This piece demonstrates a clear scenographic intent; it not only fulfills a practical function as a room divider but also acts as an independent ornamental object. The profusion of decoration, the use of gilding, the incorporation of mirrors, and the references to 18th-century repertoires reflect the historicist taste characteristic of the French Second Empire, where luxury and theatricality became signs of social distinction.
