The stylised bird has a rounded body set on a clear circular glass plinth, with an elongated tail opening into individually formed clear glass feathers. Deep near-black glass across the wings merges into translucent chartreuse green through the body, creating a particularly effective graduated colour composition. The design is attributed to Mario Pinzoni, who succeeded Flavio Poli as artistic director of Seguso Vetri d'Arte in 1963, having worked under Poli from 1953. Pinzoni remained with the Murano glassworks until 1971, overseeing its artistic direction during an important period of postwar production. His work continued Seguso's exploration of sculptural forms and sophisticated applications of color and sommerso glass. A strong example of mid-century Italian decorative glass, the dove combines a simplified modernist silhouette with considerable glassmaking detail, particularly in the modeled head, sweeping tail and layered coloration. Dimensions: Height 3.94 in (10 cm); Width 5.12 in (13 cm); Length 2.36 in (6 cm). Condition: Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. One very small area of minute pitting or a possible graze to the wing; otherwise very well preserved. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
