Now we have this elegant and well-thought-out storage cabinet, model 132, in the store! The cabinet was designed by Børge Mogensen and manufactured during the 1950s by C.M. Madsens Møbelfabrik for FDB Møbler in Denmark.
Børge Mogensen was one of the most influential representatives of Danish Modern. As a trained cabinetmaker and architect, he had a deep understanding of materials, construction and proportions. In his designs, people and everyday needs were always at the center - the furniture should be functional, durable and beautiful without superfluous details.
The cabinet's body and two doors are made of teak. The warm tone of the wood and the vibrant grain give the strict, stripped-down shape a soft and exclusive expression. The visible hinges, locks and keys in brass create elegant accents against the teak.
The airy base is also made of teak. The legs are placed at the far corners and are connected to the frame by Mogensen's characteristic slanted braces. The construction gives the cabinet both stability and a light, well-balanced expression.
Behind the doors is a carefully crafted and flexible interior in light wood. The interior consists of two removable shelves, a deep drawer and three shallow, pull-out trays. The drawer and trays are made of pine with visible joints, while the inside of the cabinet is veneered with beech and fitted with solid strips.
Shelves, trays and drawer can be placed at several different levels in the recessed grooves along the sides of the cabinet. The interior can therefore be easily adapted to what is to be stored, from porcelain, glass and textiles to documents and other objects.
Two brass keys are included. One is slightly bent.
The cabinet is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear.
