Pair of Art Deco Geometric Bookends in Two-Tone Marble — France, 1930s
A beautiful pair of Art Deco bookends with a distinctly geometric composition: a disc of veined white marble (alabaster or Carrara marble) set against a rectangular plaque of mottled red/brown marble (griotte marble or similar), itself enhanced by a small applied square of white marble — a play of shapes and materials highly representative of 1930s design. The whole rests on a rectangular black marble base, which stabilizes and highlights the composition.
