Superb and rare carved stone holy water font, likely made of limestone, dating from the 17th century.
This very beautiful font features a lovely circular basin with a curved profile and lobed relief decoration.
The upper section consists of a wide circular molding, carefully softened by time and use. The deep and generously proportioned basin rests on a rim sculpted with gadroons or rounded lobes, giving the whole a particularly harmonious silhouette.
Beautiful patina and in superb condition. A very decorative and versatile piece. Use it as a holy water font, a coffee table, a planter, or for other purposes.
