The chair … Read more A rare b36p-type tubular steel armchair associated with anton lorenz, dating from circa 1930 and originating from czechoslovakia. The chair represents the bauhaus and functionalist approach to early tubular-steel furniture, combining a streamlined chrome-plated steel frame with sculptural wooden armrests and upholstered seat and backrest. The construction closely corresponds to the b36p model associated with anton lorenz and thonet. Reference examples identify the b36p as an anton lorenz design produced by thonet, while related lorenz designs and licensed tubular-steel furniture were produced by several manufacturers during the period. The original floral upholstery provides an unusual decorative contrast to the architectural geometry of the chrome tubular frame. The wooden armrests add warmth and visual balance.
