The chairs feature beautifully curved wooden armrests that … Read more Elegant pair of original 1950s armchairs by Jindřich Halabala, originating from Czechoslovakia. The chairs feature beautifully curved wooden armrests that sweep from the front legs around the sides of the upholstered seats and into the rear structure. Their warm honey-colored wood a refined example of Czechoslovak Mid-Century Modern seating. The restrained construction and organic curves reflect the development of Czechoslovak modernist furniture during the 1950s. Both chairs retain their original vintage character. The wooden armrests show age-related wear and small marks, including visible traces from previous upholstery work where staples were attached directly to the wood.
