The underside bears the “D & C° / FRANCE” mark associated with R. Delinieres & Cie of Limoges, France. This mark dates the porcelain to approximately 1894–1900, placing the piece firmly in the late Victorian period.

The portrait decoration reflects the European tastes of the era, with influences from late Victorian and emerging Art Nouveau portraiture. No artist’s signature was found, so while the Limoges porcelain blank can be identified by its maker’s mark, the decorator is unknown. It may have been studio decorated in Europe or painted after export.

Its petite scale makes this an especially charming piece for a collection of antique Limoges, portrait porcelain, or turn-of-the-century decorative ceramics.
