This creature is a traditional Chinese guardian figure, often associated with watching over the heavens and warding off evil. The beast is depicted in a seated, upright posture with its head thrown back and mouth wide open, as if letting out a powerful roar. It features a single curved horn, a stylized flowing mane, bulging eyes, and a ridged chest. The bronze exhibits a rich, dark patina with extensive "tuo jin" (gold leaf) highlights scattered across the body, mane, and facial features, giving it a warm, aged character. This is a classic scholar's desk ornament (wenfang baijian), symbolizing vigilance and protection.
