A beautifully decorative Italian Aubusson and Savonnerie-inspired floral tapestry by Society, Collezione Tappeti, retaining its original label marked “Society – Millenovecentonovantadue … Read more A beautifully decorative Italian Aubusson and Savonnerie-inspired floral tapestry by Society, Collezione Tappeti, retaining its original label marked “Society – Millenovecentonovantadue – Collezione Tappeti – Made in Italy.” Dating to approximately the 1990s, the carpet combines historic French-inspired design with fine Italian textile production.

The warm golden-ochre field is covered with abundant roses and floral sprays in rich shades of crimson, burgundy, olive green, muted blue and soft neutrals. An elaborate classical border surrounds the field, incorporating scrolling ornament, stylized floral motifs and distinctive circular floral medallions at each corner.

Finely woven with a dense, low textured pile, the carpet has a soft, tapestry-like appearance and beautifully mellow coloration reminiscent of antique European textiles.

Its unusual 64.5-inch square format makes it especially attractive beneath a center table or in a library, sitting room, bedroom or dressing room.

Presented in good vintage condition, retaining strong colors and its original Society label.
